Pre-Treatment Instructions
Before undergoing a skin cancer procedure such as a biopsy or skin lesion removal, it’s essential to follow certain pre-treatment instructions to ensure a smooth process and optimal results.
Personalised instructions will be provided by your Doctor prior to your appointment when you attend for your skin check.
Health History and Medication
We ask that you provide a full current medication list to your Doctor. Please inform your doctor if you are taking any anticoagulants (blood thinning medication), immunosuppressive medication or if you have diabetes. Please inform your doctor if you have any electrical implantable devices such as pacemaker or a cochlear implant.
Avoid Alcohol and Smoking
We ask that you avoid alcohol for at least 2 days (48 hours) before any procedure. Smoking should also be avoided for at least several weeks before and after any procedure as this may result in delayed wound healing and poor surgical outcomes.
Sun Protection
Direct sun exposure is to be avoided in the week leading up to treatment. Treatment cannot be performed on skin that is sunburnt. Ensure sun safe practice such as regular application of SPF 50+ and the use of protective clothing.
Cleanse the Area
Please arrive at your appointment with clean skin. On the morning before your appointment please clean the treatment area with a gentle soap or cleanser. Leave the area free from skin serums, sunscreen or makeup.
Comfortable Clothing
Wear loose, comfortable clothing on the day of the procedure, especially around the area being treated. This will make it easier to dress after the surgery and prevent irritation to the treated area.
